QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Law Degree (Juris Doctor).

Required:
Admitted to practice law in Connecticut.

Required:
Minimum of seven years legal experience in the areas of, general corporate, governance, and health care law, and litigation or litigation management.

Required:
Minimum of five years analytical problem - solving and legal project management experience; strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred:
Experience in the areas of tax exempt entity law and/or litigation management.

JOB SUMMARY
The Vice President Legal Affairs/Chief Legal Officer develops and institutes the legal philosophy and policy for Center of Special Care, Inc.
(Center) and all if its wholly or partially owned affiliates, including but not limited to, Hospital for Special Care, HSC Community Services, Inc.
, CSI Residential, Inc.
, Hospital for Special Care Foundation, Inc.
and Manes & Motions Therapeutic Riding Center, Inc.
(collectively referred to as affiliates).
Manages all legal affairs of Center and its affiliates.
Has ultimate responsibility for all legal and regulatory requirements.
Provides direction to President and Boards of Directors of Center and all affiliates, on all legal and compliance matters.
Assists Center and its affiliates to comply with both Federal and State laws, including regulatory requirements.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position is generally sedentary in nature, but may occasionally require lifting of up to 50 lbs.
This position also requires frequent keyboarding and telephone use.

COGNITIVE DEMANDS
The position requires a command of the mission and goals of Center and its affiliates and what must be done to satisfy the goals, as well as the application of systems theory in the provision of support services
This position requires, on a frequent basis, the ability to engage in a high level of technical legal analysis in advising Presidents and Boards on a broad range of legal issues and on the legality of contemplated actions.
Also, required on a continual basis is the ability to effectively communicate legal opinions and draft and interpret legal and related documents.

This position requires on a frequent basis the ability to problem solve issues of complex and sensitive nature.

The position also demands on a continual basis the ability to exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills.

WORK DEMANDS
The position requires working in a pleasant climate-controlled environment.
The position requires extreme flexibility that is required for this type of independent work.
The position requires attendance at outside meetings to represent Center and affiliates.
The position demands frequent schedule changes and also irregular working hours to accommodate fluctuations in business needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Manages the legal affairs of Center and its affiliates, providing for all legal needs through the coordination, review and management of legal assistant, staff regulatory attorney and external legal counsel.

Provides expertise required to advise Boards of Directors of Center and its affiliates on all legal matters as well as governance and structure.

Provides counsel to the President and Boards of Directors regarding the legality and process of contemplated actions relative to strategic initiatives and directions for the hospital system.
Determines methods for achieving the goals of Center and affiliates within legal boundaries
Maintains currency on legal issues and requirements that affect Center's ability to meet its legal requirements
Determines legal policy in matters of compliance, employment, litigation and general corporate matters, including contracting and transactions of all types.

Performs Corporate Secretary duties and directs the Assistant Secretary regarding keeping the minutes of Center and its affiliates, sending appropriate notices and acting as a custodian of records not in the custody of the Treasurer.
Advises administration on procedural and related matters.

Participates with other senior executives, including the CEO, to address operational needs of the organization and supports planning for new initiatives with legal perspective and expertise.

Provides counsel on Medical Staff privileging and related regulatory and risk management activities.

Provides legal and related problem solving guidance to Board members, executives, Medical Staff and other staff to support organizational operations that align with applicable policies and risk mitigation practices Recommended Skills Administration Analytical Business Requirements Communication Consulting Contract Management Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
